1776 Black Liberty Angel with Flag Bunting Wings

$195.00 (includes US travel fare and insurance)

Limited to 5

Liberty is a wonderful black primitive folkart angel that can be displayed with or without her flag bunting wings. Her overall approximate measurement is 36" (wing span) by 40". She is sure to make quite a statement on your wall!

Liberty is painted and stained ticking with stitched and drawn facial features and sculpted nose and hands. Liberty's dress is made from a stained white linen with finished sleeve and skirt hems. Her wings are a stained cotton flag bunting that can be easily removed and accented with rusty jingle bell streamers. A rusty Liberty Bell pendant is tied around her neck with a strip of blue and red tonal homespun. Her twig-halo crown is embellished with Sweet Annie and securely sewn to the top of her head. Liberty's wood lathe star is securely sewn to the backside of her hands to give the illusion of holding it. A stained and painted "1776" muslin banner is tied and wired on to the wood star.

Please note that no two Black Liberty Amgels will be a like as they are handmade the old fashioned way---one at a time!

Liberty & Justice

Primitive Americana Black Folkart Make-Do Doll

$225.00 (includes US travel fare and insurance)

Liberty & Justice is uniquely original and the prototype for my new (c2008) Sew Prim Pattern Original "Liberty & Justice". This OOAK primitive folkart piece is truely a wonderful accent to your Americana decor and so much more appealing in person that the pictures do not do this justice!

Liberty & Justice is made of osnaburg which I have painted their body to give the illusion of a flag---upper body is a rich navy blue and the lower portion, barn red and white stripes. Sanded and stained then accented at the neck and arms with grubbied up blue vintage style tinsel garland. Liberty's sash and the cumberband is stained gauze. Their brows and noses are needle sculpted and eyes and lips painted on. I have used raw flax for their hair and Sam's beard. Sam's hat and Liberty's crown are painted white wool felt, also accented with grubbied up tinsel garland. Secured to Sam's neck is a stained white wool felt bow tie and Liberty, a pinned on vintage brass liberty bell. I have painted their needle sculpted hands white to give the illusion of them wearing gloves. Securely stitched to the back of their hands is a painted and stained wool felt star accented with a painted red medallion, trimmed with grubbied up red vintage style tinsel garland. The painted blue star is stitched to the medallion and a stained key tag stamped "1776" is pinned on with a rusty "T" pin. The "Liberty" and "Justice" banner is printed stained parchment (card stock) paper. Although the flags are purchased, they have been hand stitched to the dowels and then stained to give them a time worn look. This Liberty & Justice make-do is secured to a vintage mill spool and wrapped with torn strips of stained osnaburg.

The overall height of Liberty & Justice is 19 inches, one-of-a kind and will come signed and dated.
